Drive system
Directional change control switchThe Gator™ TE Utility Vehicle features a motor powered by a 48-V electrical system.
- This electrical system provides plenty of power to accelerate faster, carry loads, climb hills better, and perform evenly until recharge
Through the use of a separately excited controller, the Gator TE offers the following unique features:
- Dynamic braking
- The motor brakes when the operator lets off the accelerator; it is not a substitute for the brakes
- Overspeed control
- Reduces exposure to high-speed situations even when descending a hill; under normal conditions with a light load, the vehicle will not freewheel down an incline
- Roll away
- The electronic brake limits the vehicle speed to approximately 3.2 km/h (2 mph) and prevents the vehicle from freewheeling down a grade when left unattended
- Reduced speed in reverse
- Controls the vehicle speed to approximately 13 km/h (8 mph) without the loss of torque
- Anti-rollback
- When stopped on a grade, this feature prevents the vehicle from freewheeling in the opposite direction of the original travel direction
- Regeneration
- Energy is transformed back into the batteries when the vehicle travels faster than the set maximum speed; regeneration also occurs when dynamic braking is engaged; an estimated 3 percent to 5 percent regenerative energy is put back into the batteries during a day of work
- Diagnostics
- An onboard computer diagnoses the electrical system; using a flashing indicator light, a sequence of flashes indicates where the controller is having problems communicating
- Speed control
- The controller is set for a vehicle speed of 24.1 km/h (15 mph)
- Key-off control
- Permits the function of the interlock and safety features with the key in the off position
- Directional change control
- When switching from forward to reverse, the machine will come to a complete stop and then changes directions; this prevents a whiplash effect and potential high stress on the drivetrain
Power is transferred through a transaxle with helical gearing for low gear noise.
Onboard battery charger (detail)
Battery charger located under passenger seatThe Gator™ TE is equipped with an Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) approved onboard charger. Located under the passenger seat, the onboard charger allows the user to charge their TE from any location containing a wall receptacle. This saves the user time, as they do not have to travel back to the maintenance area for charging; charging can be done anywhere.
The onboard charger is designed with a wide input voltage range from 85 - 265 VAC, making it capable for worldwide application. Power factor correction and 12A maximum current draw ensures the charger will work reliably from any power outlet in the world, even through surges and sags.
Improved run time
The onboard charger features advanced temperature sensor technology that improves the information flow coming in and out of charger. The batteries are allowed to charge more fully than they were ever able to before; this can improve run time by up to 75 percent (depending on use cycle).
Important safety features of the charger are as follows:
- Vehicle ignition interlock
- Prevents the vehicle from being driven while connected to the charger
- Automatic shutoff
- Battery charger automatically shuts off after reaching the full charge
External charger plug and light-emitting diode (LED) charge indicator
The Gator TE is equipped with an external AC input IEC connector on the driver side of the vehicle to allow the flexibility of where the charger cord is stored. There is a multicolor LED indicator for low charge, more than 80 percent charge, full charge, or fault.
The heavy-duty design with arc-welded uni-body construction provides strength and manufacturing tolerance control.
Side-by-side seating
Many of the Gator™ TE's standard features offer the operator and passenger a smooth, comfortable ride.
- Side-by-side seating provides room for the operator and one passenger
- Hip restraints serve as a handhold and help to keep the operator and passenger in their seats over rough terrain
- Professional high-back cushioned seats are position-adjustable and provide additional comfort and support
- Both seats tilt forward for dry storage and ease of service
Walk-through platformThe Gator TE's controls and improved walk-through platform provide easy entry/exit for both operator and passenger.

Tailgate lowered to 150 degreesThe tailgate can be opened or removed for easier cleanout and to carry longer items. The tailgate has been improved, features truck-like performance, and can be operated with one hand.
The standard installed lanyards can also be removed to lower the tailgate to 150 degrees for convenient loading and unloading tasks.

Gas assist (A) and prop rod (B) (TX 4X2 shown)The deluxe cargo box is easier to latch, unlatch, raise, and lower with the integrated handle design and gas assist (A). Optional factory- or dealer-installed cargo box power lift is also available.
A prop rod (B) is provided to hold the box in the upright position for operator convenience, as well as limit box pivot travel.

High-capacity alternator kitThis kit provides the additional amperage output required while operating certain attachments at low idle for long periods of time.
At high idle, the kit will supply up to an additional 45 amps and, when combined with the existing output, will provide up to 60 amps cumulative.

Speedrail lock in the unlocked postion
Speedrail lock in the locked postionThe Gator™ XUV Series can be equipped with an optional divider for the deluxe cargo box. The dividers can be positioned at the front or rear of the cargo box bed. To change positions of the dividers, simply release the speedrail locks by hand and slide into new position, then close the locks to secure the dividers.
Cargo box power lift kitThe power lift kit utilizes an electromechanical actuator for easy raising and lowering of the Gator™ cargo box.
A switch is conveniently located on the dash to operate the power lift kit. As with all Gator electrical kits, the power lift kit ties into the vehicle's wiring harness for quick installation.

Cargo box side extension kit The cargo box side extension kit expands the versatility of the Gator™ Utility Vehicles and is ideal for those who are enhancing their property and landscape. The extensions allow operators to haul twice the volume (not to exceed cargo box weight capacity) of light material such as grass clippings and mulch.
Product features include:
- Four-sided structure that increases cargo box side height to 533 mm (21 in.) and volume to 0.74 m3 (26 cu ft)

The remote cargo box release kit makes opening the cargo box much easier due to limited hand clearance space between the deluxe cab and deluxe cargo box. This kit includes a bracket assembly that quickly mounts to the deluxe cargo box.

The forced-air heater kit uses a dash-mounted heater powered by gasoline from the vehicle's fuel system. Since the heater is using fuel instead of warm coolant from the engine to generate heat, the cab heat is available more rapidly. The desired cab temperature can be reached with or without the engine running.
- Dash-mounted, five-position control dial to adjust for operator comfort

- Positions 2 to 5 offer four heat levels (low, medium, high, and boost, respectively)

Operation of forced-air heater
Upon startup, the heater's control module runs a self-diagnostic check for safety. Then, the blower begins to increase speed as fuel is fed into the burner. Once the combustion process has stabilized, the glow plug is switched off. The heater continues to run until the thermostat senses the temperature has reached the setting on the control dial.
The heater will then switch to the next lowest setting. The heater will return to the higher setting as the temperature drops below the setting on the control dial. If the heater switches itself off, it will automatically restart when the temperature drops below the setting on the control dial.
If the heater's control module senses an incorrect air-intake volume, incorrect exhaust volume, incorrect fan speed, flame absence, flame loss, overheating, control dial failure, sensor failure, blower failure, glow plug failure, fuel pump failure, incorrect voltage, short-circuit or control module failure, the heater is immediately switched off and a fault code is recorded.
When the heater is switched off, the green light goes off and fuel is no longer fed to the burner. The glow plug remains switched on for 30 seconds to clear the heater of combustible residue. To prevent damage to the heater, the blower continues to run until the heater is cool.

Winch
Warn Winch (3000 lb)This strong, 12-V winch has an impressive pulling capacity of 3000 lb (1361 kg). It is equipped with a water-resistant contactor that supplies the amperage required for higher pulling capacities. The winch also includes a special wiring harness that allows a quick connection to the 12-V power supply at the front of the Gator™. The rear wiring harness with quick connection can be purchased through Parts.
The winch has a 10-ft lead and a water-resistant remote for safe-distance operation. It also comes with a four-way roller fairlead to minimize rope abrasion and pulling resistance.
The kit comes with the winch, receiver mounting plate, and wiring for front mount. This winch is compatible with 1-1/4-in. front and rear receiver hitches.
NOTE: Requires front receiver hitch for front mount. Requires rear receiver hitch for rear mount. Requires AM137110 rear multi-mount harness for rear mount. VGA10459 144-in. battery cable is required for TH 6X4 Gas, TH 6X4 Diesel, and M-Gator™ A1 Utility Vehicles.
